For the time being, Reese is holding in his hands, his lifetime, his reliable audio recorder. A device which, despite the hardship that has been through, manages to maintain the good condition and the high quality of all the audio clips it contains.
In the first folder, there are the musical experimentations from his alterego poet nicknamed Ice Atan.
Seven Kayaks, an Ice Atan and Ido Nincha’s poem.
In formulation V, follow the flow.
There’s a patience need, to disobey the Woe.
Canoes wing, duck pull oar,
Dracaenas deep, children born, Knot.
The archduck paddles, each bang brings turbulence.
Untimely ducks, breakwater oars.
Synchronized dancers, soothe the tail of all ducks,
a paddling of ducks, out pairing the ducks.
Ιn the second envelope, the recordings of the members of the tribe of Anemaki begin once they set foot on the shores of the island of thousand waves, almost three years ago.
He lights up a small sacred fire and double speed replays samples of the second set of files. Then quickly remembers that this was an impressive montage of memoirs. Keeping Ice Atan’s soundscapes to the background, he decides to voiceover this sacred work and realizes he must tackle with each segment in the chronological order of recording.
He then, complements the necessary narrative, decorates with handmade graphics and forms his books, «Delusions of Youth and Age».
In the first passage of the second envelope, a double, dry, rough cough sounds.
“Tribe! You trusted me to restrain our basic instincts and I strived to save as many as I could from the delusions of their youth. Here then, around the fire on the side of new steep cliffs, trust me again, you’re the few remaining Anemaki.
These few hours before we complete our mission, let us eat the goat and let us remember that the storm that washed us ashore on this coast left us crippled but alive for one more day to recount our history, record our experiences and irrigate strength to continue our struggle, and conquer the summit of the isle of thousand waves!”
Their final battle would be forth given against the very nature of the island and the prevalence would be difficult, almost impossible; this statement was agreed by all. This was either because the conditions were extreme adverse whenever anyone approached the isle, or because the tribe once was hunting something else, different and unknown. Something that felt like a link to destiny.
“Where should one begin to narrate the memorable moments that we lived? The starting point must be tightly tied to our good fortune! Please, fill in the gaps and correct me whenever needed, for my friends, our luck have never stopped and for as long as there is, never gets mistaken!”
It was true that the tribe members, still young, wavered, and the hardened nature towards them grew stronger waves. Pierced their eyes and put salt water in their sweet insides. In wet sand, they sat and discussed, they plucked fish bones as if expecting some miracle to relieve their evening hunger, yet always would stop and stare at the sun fall behind the isle, disappearing, never satisfied, like they were all in a dream, off to conquer the island by example.
“Just like in any other war, ours should end sometime, and this time is now! We have got to win. It is too much, thirty years of periodic thirst, hunger and fighting and everybody, tired, need with all our available remaining strength, the end. The match up with the pirates has to come to a closure in a way that could not undermine our sovereignity over Anima Key.”
Their soul was in a constant state of burning until they finally arrived at the decision. The seasonal war had to be won at all costs. The island of thousand waves had to be mastered by the Anemaki first.
“The flag with the symbols of the herringbone, the paddle and the isle, has to be visible throughout the whole panorama and be mounted on a high pole at the isle’s top, for all out there to see!”
Οf course, the air drop and wet cruising plans got devised by Reese and were presented the very last day night before the final run for secrecy reasons. The security measured tough against the pirates’ great ability to spy. By the next morning, the elite pilots would embark on the most dangerous adventure in the annals of the great cave of Anima Key.
A flock of seven kayaks and a stewardess would night sail from this cave to the mythical island.
“On one hand, the mission of the stewardess is absolutely certain, based on flight plan events. The free fall, with the necessary climbing equipment and food supplies will follow Trina’s ejection from the tail of the aircraft, towards a successful landing, to the shore.
On the other hand, the kayak convoy should follow specific instructions.
In hydrodynamic formation, the canoes, like ducks will be placed in the best possible position and nod their oars like wings, at the best possible rate, so as to save energy and forces for ducks that will swim on the back of the formation V.
Each duck should position the paddle, in the moving upstream portion of the air turbine, which is generated from the tip of the paddle of ducks sailing ahead. The turbine is, however, changing position up or down as the duck in front, waves his oars. For this reason, the duck behind should not only be placed in the proper position but also wag the oars at the appropriate time, which changes depending on the distance between the ducks.
These ducks, being at the legs of the V, slightly behind the duck that sails in front, will shake them oars, synchronized, to allow those who sail last, to get more boost, while those who were right behind the driver will nod their oars out of time to minimize the impact of the downward direction generated by the turbines of the paddles of the first duck.
The best oriented pilot will come forward to lead the others, so that during the journey, the team members can rotate at different positions in the V formation, and adjust the rate of movement of their oars, in order to rest.
All ducks must have an extraordinary capacity to feel, or even predict the turbulence of the water, caused by their partners during the duration of the cruise.”
